So long, and thanks for all the fish!

This morning I mourn the loss of another blogger brother, Bi Like Me.  When his blog was unceremoniously taken down last week, I feared the worse.  I know it is tough to start over, and had a feeling that he would not want to go through that pain again.  So I was not surprised when he emailed me to tell me that he was done.

I was surprised when his blog was up and running a short while after.  I had not heard of blogs being resurrected once they were removed by Blogger.  But still, BLM had made his decision to bring an end to his blog, and I respect that.  Although I am choosing to look at this as "See you later", hopefully it's "See you soon!", rather than "Goodbye."

I have enjoyed following Bi Like Me over the last couple of years.  His blog was, and still is, one of the big dogs in my blogging world.  BLM is a staple in my daily routine.  Much of what he has described about his life, his desires, and his disappointments, mirrors my life.  When I got the opportunity to write for BLM, I jumped at it.  Writing for him has resurrected, somewhat, the efforts on my own blog.

His latest post, his Epitaph, only reaffirmed why I have been such a loyal follower.  I recognize similar situations in my own life in what he has written.  Similarities in how his feelings towards Ross began and changed.  Similarities in his relationship with his wife.  Please join me in wishing him luck, love and success in his life.  And let's all hope that he decides to return one day.

  1. As a long time follower of Bi Like Me, I also hate to see him go. He had reached a level of excellence in his blog in both content and technical layout that few of us ever attain.

I do have to say one thing about Blogger taking down blogs. No one except a blogger who has poured hundreds if not thousands of hours into his blog can imagine the feeling in the pit of your stomach when you realize all that work is GONE!

I got the news from one of my followers in an email. His note to me said, "all that beautiful work gone. I'm so sorry."

At first I didn't realize what he was talking about, but then it hit me. I tried to sign in to my blog and received the message that the blog did not exist and the name was not eligible for use.

I was almost physically sick. For a few hours I considered just hanging it up. But then my normal stubborn nature took hold and I decided to fight it.

What I found was that Blogger had not taken my blog down for some violation. Instead it had been taken down because it was being hacked. To protect both the blog and Blogger, the blog was taken down.

Once I established myself as the rightful owner, the blog was reactivated. There was minor damage but nothing drastic. I fault Blogger only because they make the process far from clear and very very difficult to rectify.

After that experience, I began to use a very complex password and I change it often. Since then I have had no problem.

    1. Good advice, I'll start doing that. I would be heartbroken if I lost my blog.

    1. I'm not going anywhere. I do plan to post more, but I don't want to make any promises out of fear of disappointing you.
